I called Melinda at the urgency of my co-worker who works with her.

She reviewed my new hire packet, explained all the working benefits I have. We talked about my future plans for retirement. She was easy to understand and talk with, no matter how many questions I asked. She ensured I understood how my benefits work, now and when I reach retirement age.

I had very little time to complete my retirement paperwork due to a medical condition that forced me to retire after 23 years. Melinda completed the retirement paperwork correctly and quickly which allowed me to retire ASAP.

She also discovered Thousands in TSP contributions unknown to me. I never contributed and did not know there were contributions on my behalf. That was a huge blessing and relief heading into retirement at 57 and not qualifying for the FERS Supplement.

It is a good feeling to have a benefits trainer that we can contact for questions throughout our career and into retirement.
